Shopify · Speed & conversion

Shopify speed and conversion work, scoped before it starts.

A focused sprint on the parts of a Shopify store that affect sales: speed, the mobile experience, product pages, cart flow and tracking.

The Conversion & Performance Sprint is Carrtel's Shopify speed optimization service. It works on the parts of a store that affect sales: page speed, the mobile experience, product pages, trust signals, cart flow and tracking. It is $500–$1,500 CAD, scoped in writing first, built on a copy of your theme and published only when you approve it.

Is this for me?

Four problems this sprint is for.

Most of them arrive slowly, one app, tag or banner at a time, which is why nobody notices until the store feels heavy on a phone.

Slower than it was at launch

Apps, tracking tags, pop-ups and bigger photos were added one at a time, and the store now takes noticeably longer to show a product on a phone.

A speed app that did not help

An app promised a faster store; the store is no quicker, and there is one more script loading on every page.

Visits that stop at the product page

People reach product pages and leave without adding anything, and nobody can say whether the page, the information on it or the wait is the reason.

Numbers nobody trusts

Analytics and the Shopify admin disagree about orders, so there is no way to tell whether a change helped.

What we do

What the work actually is.

01

Speed

Apps that load on every page whether that page uses them or not, code left behind by apps you removed, photos far larger than the page shows, and third-party scripts such as chat and review widgets. Each one is removed, replaced or loaded only where it is needed, on a copy of your theme, one change at a time, so it is clear what each change did.

02

Mobile

Every key page checked on a real phone screen: menus and filters that are hard to tap, text that needs zooming, an add-to-cart button pushed below the first screen, and pop-ups that cover the product before the shopper has seen it.

03

Product pages and trust signals

Photos, options, price and the add-to-cart button in the order a shopper needs them. Shipping, returns and contact details shown where the decision is made rather than in the footer, and the reviews you already collect placed where they help someone choose.

04

Cart flow and tracking

The steps from add-to-cart to checkout: the cart itself, anything that gets in the way of it, and what a shopper learns about shipping before paying. Then the tracking: your analytics and pixels checked so a visit, an add-to-cart and an order are each recorded once, which is what lets you judge the next change. The checkout itself is Shopify's; the sprint works on everything that leads to it.

Before anything changes

What the sprint looks at first

We start by measuring the pages that carry your sales, on a phone and on a desktop, and listing every app and script that loads on them; why a store gets slow in the first place is the subject of our guide.

Speed apps

Do speed apps fix a slow Shopify store?

We do not start with one. A speed app is one more app, with code of its own, and it does not take out the code other apps load or have left behind in your theme. That clean-up is manual work, and it is where the sprint begins.

Some apps do one narrow job well, such as compressing images, and if one is the right tool for your store we will say so and you choose whether to install it. The order of work does not change: remove what the store does not need, tune what is left, then measure the same pages again.

How it runs

We look before we price.

01

Look

Access through a Shopify collaborator account with only the permissions the job needs. The pages that carry your sales are measured, and every app and script on them listed, before anything is quoted.

02

Scope

A written list of what will change and what will not, in the order it matters, and a firm price, agreed before work starts.

03

Build on a copy

Changes made on a duplicate of your live theme, one at a time, with a preview link so you can try them on your own phone before anything is published.

04

Hand over

Published when you approve it, with the previous theme kept so it can be put back. The same pages are measured again, and you get a short note of what changed. Anything we got wrong is covered for 30 days.

Pricing

$500–$1,500

A typical range for one sprint, plus GST where applicable. Where your store lands in it depends on how many pages, templates and apps the work touches, and the final price is fixed in a written scope before anything starts. Your Shopify plan, paid themes and apps stay billed by their providers.

Questions

Shopify speed optimization: common questions

The Conversion & Performance Sprint is $500–$1,500 CAD, plus GST where applicable, priced as a project rather than a subscription. The final price is set against a written scope agreed before work begins, and anything outside it is explained and priced before it goes ahead.

We do not rely on one. A speed app adds code of its own and does not remove what other apps load or left behind in the theme, so the sprint removes what the store does not need first. If an app is the right tool for one job, such as compressing images, we will say so.

Only where you agree it should. Most speed work is out of sight: apps, scripts, image sizes and code. Product-page and cart changes are visible, so each one is listed in the written scope and shown to you on a preview of a copy of your theme before anything is published.

No one can promise either, and we do not: no speed score, load time or sales figure is guaranteed. What you get is evidence. The same pages are measured before and after, so you can see what changed. Sales depend on much more than speed, which is why the sprint also works on product pages, the cart and tracking.

A Shopify collaborator account. You approve the request, choose which parts of the store we can see and change, limited to what the sprint needs, and remove the access when the work is done. Your own login stays yours.
